International Migratory Bird Day

Looking for the Nuthatch
Harlequin Duck at LeHardy Rapids, Yellowstone NP
American Goldfinch; Grey's Lake NWR

We missed IMBD last year due to a scheduling conflict, but we've visited Grand Teton NP six of the past seven years. Andrew does a great job of leading the couple of dozen new and old faces around the park for a somewhat grueling day of birding. We had excellent weather conditions with temps more like the first week in June. Nothing spectacular sighted--I think that the warm weather has made conditions similar to what we have experienced around the Great Salt Lake, with many of the species dispersed due to alternates to low-elevation spots being snow-free. I counted 69 species total, which I will assume will jive with Patty's official count. We had a good look at Grizzly 610 near Willow Flats on Sunday and a brief look on Tuesday. We looped around the southern end of Yellowstone on Monday, with a dozen Harlequin Ducks at LeHardy Rapids as the birding highlight.
