Capitol Reef and San Rafael Swell

Red-tailed Hawk, Electric Lake

Say's Phoebe, Capitol Reef

Wild Turkey, Capitol Reef

Horned Lark, San Rafael Swell

House Sparrow, Hanksville
Birded on the way to Capitol Reef making our way back through San Rafael Swell and the mountains above Huntington. While the birding was great, there were a few highlights, especially calling White-throated Swifts on  the Golden Throne Trail in Capitol Reef. This species is very difficult to see, much less photograph, due to there   constant flying. We've seen them before in the area, but this time we had close to eye-level views a couple of time, they might have been a bit curious, or were simply being territorial. We had a brief glimpse at a pair of Pinyon Jays on S-72 on our way to Bicknell even though we went through many miles of pinyon/juniper habitat, this species has proven to be a rare a find as any.
