Common Murre
It's been awhile seen I've updated this blog, but after a trip to the Central Coast of California where we added a couple of lifers, it's time. Saw a lot of great birds along the coast, mostly the same ones we saw in the area a couple of years ago. Highlights were a good look at White tailed Kite "kiting" near San Simeon. Lots of Common Murre during our whale watching adventure and numerous Anna's Humingbirds almost every where we went. We spent a few hours watching four(or five) California Condors in action. We were hoping to see them fly up to road level for more opportunity for photos like the one above, but our patience and "loose" schedule finally one out. Lifers included  the Kite, Sooty Shearwater, Red-throated Loon, Red Phalarope, Pacific-slope Flycatcher and Elegant Tern. Except for the Tern and Kite, we got only brief glimpses at the other birds with no chances as a photograph. This year's total was the same number as our last visit: 106 birds. We're looking forward to our next journey to the area which will likely start up at Point Reyes and will include a pelagic voyage out on Monterey Bay.
