Albion Basin to Sugarloaf

Black-chinned Hummingbird

Juvenile(I think) Northern Flicker

Steller's Jay with White Sulpher

Hermit Thrush

Not a Pika hudsonia!
Hiked to the base of Sugarloaf from Albion Basin. Wildflowers were abundant, birds a little less so, except for Hummingbirds. We saw dozens along the trail, but despite the numbers, photo-ops were few and far between. Other birds of note was a juvenile Flicker in the talus fields below Sugarloaf, and a Steller's Jay chasing a butterfly which it would feed to a couple of juveniles he/she was tending to near the campground. Later in the evening at home, we had a visit from a Black-headed Grosbeak, an infrequent visitor to the yard. I scared him off when attempting to get a shot. Hope he returns.
