Brighton-area Birding

Black-chinned Hummingbird

Mallard

Mountain Chickadee

Spotted Sandpiper

White-crowned Sparrow

White-crowned Sparrow
The best bird of the day was seen a few miles up the canyon when I caught a brief glimpse of a Northern Goshawk as he flew across the highway. I saw a few White-crowned Sparrow chicks in the walk around Silver Lake and a Spotted Sandpiper flew away as I approached him on the west side. Mountain Chickadees, a couple of Stellar's Jays and some Hummingbirds were hanging around the visitor's center. One of the Hummer's was checking red-colored portions of the informational sign for nectar, but was unsuccessful.
